Dude, you’re a dad now. Your days of being cool are behind you.
Look, I get it. You’re used to wearing whatever you want. You care about your #aesthetic. You swore you wouldn’t be like your mothers. You wanted to be a cool papa. But it merely can’t be done, my human. The more you try, the more you look like this 😛 TAGEND
The Daddy Bag is a super functional, streamlined diaper bag with insulated pockets for bottles, a slot for waste suitcases, wipe dispenser, and storage pockets for everything else you may need throughout the day. It’s all packaged in a slim knapsack that frees up your arms to carry your baby, and even includes a fold-out changing pads so you don’t have to put your baby down on a dirty surface when changing her on the go. It’s actually a really cool notion, though the name is a little cringe-worthy.
The Daddy Bag Kickstarter campaign has such a Silicon Valley esthetic, the cover image for their promo video starts with a shot of the Golden Gate bridge 😛 TAGEND
It’s altogether on-brand for SF tech bros to want to disrupt the nappy pouch industry with a heavily design-focused, streamlined product. The gendered marketing just seems a bit weird. It’s at once “woke” in acknowledging that papas can and should spend time with their kids and be responsible for taking care of them, while at the same day wanting to differentiate themselves from mommies with their “girly” diaper bags.
To be fair, the Kickstarter page includes copy about moms utilizing Daddy Bag too. Still, it’s clear who they’re marketing the product to — new papas who urgently want to feel cool no matter what.
If you’re looking for a lighter, more functional nappy pouch, you’ll probably want to back the Daddy Bag( but I’d indicate not telling anyone it’s called a Daddy Bag .) If you hurry you can get the early bird price of $70. After that, it’s $99.
